ในที่สุดแมนยูก็เสียนักบอลคนสำคัญคือเจ้าโด้ Cristiano Ronaldo ไปให้ทีม Real Madrid จนได้ เพราะเจ้าโด้บอกว่าเค้าฝันถึงการเล่นให้ทีม Real Madrid มาตั้งแต่เกิด ...นี่ถ้าแมนยูไม่ปั้นจนเก่งขนาดนี้รีล มาดริดมันจะสนใจมั๊ย?
แต่การย้ายไปครั้งนี้ก็ยังดีที่ Man United ได้รับค่าตัวเจ้าโด้มาถึง 80 ล้านปอนด์ ซึ่งเป็นสถิติค่าตัวย้ายทีมที่สูงที่สุดในโลกตอนนี้ ...

โรนัลโด้พูดถึงแมนยูหลังจากที่เค้าตกลงย้ายไปอยู่กับรีล มาดริดว่า

"I'm a one-off,". "But that doesn't mean Manchester United won't buy world-class players.

"Sir Alex will spend well on big names, I'm sure.

"He's lost big players before, but gone on to even more success.

"For me they will still win the Premier League next year, and I hope for a long time to come.

"Not many players could turn down United and I fully expect big names to arrive.

"I decided I needed a new challenge after winning everything with United and the boss has a price for me which he thinks is fair.

"I feel it's the right outcome and have spoken with the boss all the way through this. When I'm at a club, I'll always give it my heart and soul.

"Until the very end I gave United everything I had on the pitch.

"It was nice to leave after winning another title but it would have been perfect to win another European Cup. That defeat in the final really hurt, so when people say I don't show loyalty, I don't listen.

หลังจากที่แมนยูได้รับค่าตัวของโรนัลโด้มาจากรีล มาดริด...แมนยูก็เริ่มช้อปปิ้งทันที ซึ่งมีงบไว้ซื้อนักบอลใหม่ๆถึงประมาณ 100 ล้านปอนด์ ดูเหมือนจะสบายละ ซื้อใครดังๆมาแทนเจ้าโด้ก็คงง่าย แต่ไม่ใช่เลย เพราะนักบอลคนไหนที่แมนยูจะซื้อก็ดูเหมือนจะโดนเจ้าทีมรีล มาดริดdจะเอาด้วยแทบทุกคน เช่น Karim Benzema กองหน้าดาวรุ่งทีมชาติฝรั่งเศส ที่มีข่าวว่าป๋า Alex Ferguson เล็งมานาน ยื่นซื้อไปแล้วแต่รอเจ้าเบนเซม่ากลับจากพักร้อนก่อน แต่พอเบนเซม่ากลับมาก็บอกปัดข้อเสนอของทีมแมนยูเลย เพราะอยากไปเล่นกับ รีล มาดริด ทีมเดียว ..ในที่สุด รีล มาดริดก็จัดการฉกไปจนได้ ..แล้วจะเหลือใครเก่งๆให้แมนยูซื้อมั่งเนี่ย เงินมีแต่มีมาร..มาดริดมาบัง

แมนยูได้ Antonio Valencia ปีกจากทีมวีแกน ค่าตัวประมาณ 16 ล้านปอนด์ และล่าสุดก็ทำการช็อกแฟนบอลหลายๆคน ด้วยการฉกตัว Michael Owen มาฟรีๆจากทีมนิวคาสเซิ่ลครับ โอเว่นเป็นอดีตศูนย์หน้าจอมถล่มประตูของที่ลิเวอร์พูล ที่ปัจจุบันมีปัญหาบาดเจ็บบ่อยๆจนหลุดจากทีมชาติอังกฤษไปนาน เจ้าตัวอยากย้ายออกจากทีม Newcastle United ต้นสังกัดปัจจุบันที่พึ่งหล่นจากพรีเมียร์ลีก ซึ่งโอเว่นเสนอตัวเองไปยังทีมใหญ่ต่างๆในอังกฤษ แต่ก็มีแต่คนแหยงเพราะเห็นว่าโอเว่นกระดูกเปราะ เจ็บง่าย มีแต่ป๋า Alex Ferguson ของแมนยูนี่แหละที่เห็นค่าของโอเว่น ..งานนี้โอเว่นคงซึ้งใจแมนยูเป็นที่สุด เพราะลิเวอร์พูลสโมสรเก่าที่เค้าสร้างชื่อเองยังไม่สนเลย

โอเว่นให้สัมภาษณ์ตอนเซ็นสัญญากับแมนยูไว้ว่า...
